WOYWW the trashy novel got the upper hand

You remember how I said (well maybe I didn't actually say, but I think you guessed), that I had to specially buy a book that I couldn't possibly ever want to read, if I was going to deliberately "alter" it?  So I started removing pages from it as per Elizabeth's instructions and naturally, because it was "the printed word" I couldn't resist reading little snippets of it, here and there, and then I had to hurriedly read a few pages before I glued them together. Which only goes to prove that I will waste my time reading anything! And if you have this same affliction and you want to alter a book I suggest you try and find one written in a foreign language and if you do could you please send one to me, but not in French, because I would be tempted to try and read that too!

Anyway, I got my own back on the book by cutting a chunk out of it ...

The above book altering stuff is off to the side, so here is my "real" workspace,
and look how neat it is ...

Yes, I did place that book there deliberately, so you had something to look at! It's new and I like it a lot! If by any chance, you are zooming in (although I'm not sure why you would), the chocolate boxes are empty (of chocs), they are being used for storage, of course. Enough for now, I'm off to visit Julia's Wonderful World of Wednesday Workdesks.

  1. Oh wow, I want that book! Not the one with the niche, the other one (grin)!! I want to learn more mixed media and encaustics. YES, I clicked to make it larger. Like you, I will read anything, especially on a blog!!

BTW, the "white" stuff is tissue paper. I kept it from the gifts Annette sent me. I am going for texture in my techniques book.

Can see I need the other book, the one that looks like serious eye-candy - enjoy.

  19. I haven't started to deface my book yet and I suspect that I will encounter the same temptation just as soon as I do - perhaps I should read the book first. I think it is a rule of crafting that chocolate boxes are always empty :) Hope you are having a good WOYWW. Elizabeth x #22

  28. It's my first week with WYOWW and I'm quickly trying to work through to everyone's desk...its so exciting but I'm a little overwhelmed by all the talent.

What a great space you have...although I'm a little confused about the book project but maybe as I visit all will become clear...
    I love your virtual bookcase.

  30. I'm in your class too, and I had the same thing happen to me, I can't help but read! Mine is short stories so I was able to read one story before making the niche, and while I'm waiting for things to dry I am reading some of whatever page is available! lol waving high from the windy hills of North Carolina :)

  32. Good gfief, well done you on having the niche all cute out... must admit, at first I thought.... gosh that niche looks a bit naff... then i realised that you had actually gone to a lot of trouble making it that way to suit the frame bitty on the side!! See? I'm a bear of small brain... it takes me a while!! LOL

  35. Make any kind of mess you like. That's the fun in ABs. Of course, your experiments will probably be much more controlled and better than mine (grin). I'm SO glad you are playing along.
