I just thought I'd pop in quickly today to show you my first attempt at "Faux Rust" ... and to see if you think it could pass for the genuine article ... maybe it's too red?

Thanks for your quick response to my comment, Rosa - you should do a tutorial on this as it's brilliant. The effect is so realistic, and I had to do a double take and still wasn't convinced it wasn't real! I've got most of those colours, I think, and I've also got pumice gel medium for gritty effects. Like you, I have Scottish ancestry, which is probably why I enjoy recycling stuff for art so much! Sand from the garden? What's wrong with that!! (You could bag it up and sell it as a posh art supply lol!)
