As mentioned last week I have found a suitable book for altering.
Following Elizabeth's very clear preparation instructions, I have started tearing pages out (the other method involved far too much glue).
So, here, today, you can see some pages ripped out of the ripping yarn book
(but not interesting enough to actually read. I don't think the literary world will be any the worse off if I alter this book beyond recognition). Have started coffee staining some pages. There's one sitting on a small cutting board.
What, you use your cutting board to actually cut?
The other side is stained from polymer clay too.
The blue and white page in the middle is a new colour of misting spray which I made the other day. It's not an exact science, so it turned out rather well, don't you think?
Those postcardy things are freebies which you can collect around the place.
I find them irresistable.
Here's a question for you ...
Why did I actually NEED to buy ANOTHER book for this project?
And this only shows you about a third of the whole "library". Eeeek!
Now, I'm off to visit Julia and her Wonderful World of WOYWW.
You can come too.
Why thank you Ros for that vote of approval for my AB class. I agree that the literary world will be none the wiser or worse off by you using that book. I'm impressed that you have started coffee staining some pages for your book. How did you know we will be using those in our books (grin)?
ReplyDeleteAnd yep, you have a HUGE library. Looks a bit like mine. I'm number 9, which, as you surmised, is one ahead of you (grin)!!
Lots of books gosh and you bought another!!! I to have joined Elizabeth's AB class but not as far as coffee staining just yet, Hugs May x x x
ReplyDeleteWe have a garage full of books...83 bankers boxes...belonging to my brother. We are selling his house so we are storing them:( I think I should start doing altered books too:)

It would have to be an appallingly bad book in order for me to rip it up! But I do like your library though!

Your post made me chuckle! I've been collecting books in foreign languages so I can use them in different projects. I try to cycle through my books just because I have a small house -- otherwise I'd have a "real" library room.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the book altering!

What would we do with our Wednesdays if it was not for the wonder of WOYWW? It's always fascinating to peek through the window into your creative arena so thank you. I Hope you have a good week.
ReplyDeleteNeil (#47 ish)
I haven't started taking my pages out yet, but think I'll be tearing rather than gluing... hope I can keep up as I will be away from home this weekend.
ReplyDeleteGreat library - I love booklovers. One day maybe I'll share mine...Helen 41
i too used the tearing method for my book and yes, we also have a lot of books. i even have a whole pile that i bought with the plan of altering them. how could i resist when they cost 10 - 25 cents! but the one i'm using for the AB class was for free!
ReplyDeletehappy WOYWW, and thanks for sharing!
hugs,

Yeek, I am late in the tearing of the pages for the altered book... still faffing around with other stuff. But I love your book case wouldn't mind a closer peek at what you have on those shelves. Yes, I am off to buy a book on altered books. Any recommendations?
ReplyDeleteNot started the tearing out y et but I have marked the centre of my signatures ready. Can I join your home library please, I love books and could spend a happy hour of four in there.

If you pop over to my place I have some blog candy to share.
Great busy crafty space, and it looks like you are getting on with your AB. Think i need to check out Elizabeth's instructions ... just not sure I could do it to a book?! Happy WOYWW

Marvellous Ros...I bought a book too - turns out I'm attached to all the rubbish on my bookshelves!! Am happy to see you've started, the pages coming along already! Im a sucker for those postcards too, some of the artwork is amazing.
ReplyDeleteHa ha I'm the same I've got so many books but I wouldn't touch them. Reading only. I've never altered anything much so must start I think, though the books will stay on the shelves and like you, I will buy a book for that purpose! Enjoy this week's WOYWW snoop around the world. Take care Zo xx 81
ReplyDeleteYour misting spray looks very pretty! I hope you will use it on your AB!

ReplyDeletelooking forward to seeing your finished book! My hubby would have a fit if I started pulling pages out of a book! Actually, don't tell but I do have one little book that I use when I want a page of text for my cards, he hasn't sussed it out yet!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW, Debxx #23
You needed to buy another book for that project because it would be horrible to use a book you actually plan to read/have read/might possibly read at some point. I totally understand.
ReplyDelete...your misting spray does look a rather gorgeous shade of blue...have a lovely week...Mel :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to be let loose in your library.

I had to buy two books for Elizabeth's class, one to read (or at least skim) and one to alter. Found them at the dollar store, so not too dear a price. Still haven't cut it yet, too many years beeing told not to mar a Book lol. #15
ReplyDeleteYou do have a lot of books! Haven't started mine yet...just not had the time but thanks for showing yours! Thanks for my snoop! I deleted about 30 of my comments this morning by mistake, sorry if one was you!
