WOYWW birds have flown

... or they are about to. All packaged up just waiting to go in the mail box! (pics below)
So, look, new stuff on my work area ...

Yes, like many others, I have succumbed to the allure of Pan Pastels! (No Neet, I didn't need them, but I sure did WANT them!)  I had some reservations, mainly to do with having some old boxes of artist's pastels which I haven't touched for years and the possibility of making chalk dust to breath was not appealing.  Anyway, the chalk dust is minimal, and I used hair spray for fixative. And it's all good!
With the kit came a link to a tutorial for the canvas you can see. I couldn't wait to get started and am fairly pleased with the result.

As for those birds that have been hanging around for the last few weeks, here is how they ended up ...

Gates open ...

Now I am having a very strange battle with blogger at the moment,
so I think I had better quit while I'm ahead :)
WOYWW comes to you, every Wednesday,

  2. I just used some pan pastels recently, and didn't realize they had to be set. Talk about spreading the colors all over the place with my fingers whenever I moved anything. glad you didn't have that problem. Love your colors and artwork, too. Happy WOYWW from #2.

  6. Roz, I should clarify that I didn't spread the pan pastels with my fingers, but got traces of the dusty stuff all over my fingers, which I spread all over the piece when I was in the process of scanning it. Thanks for the comment.

  11. Glad I made the correct forecast last week LOL. Well, you have done a fabulous canvas with them - I am so impressed, it is gorgeous. I didn't get a tute with mine but then maybe I bought mine as separate pots. What a shame as I am about to try them on canvas.
Love how you used your birds - was the background with PP's as well? Very impressive and I love the gate.
Thanks for sharing - and visiting me earlier - I have been gabbing on the phone.

I haven't get got my hands on any Pan Pastels, and can't use hairspray anywhere near me, so would have to find something else if it is needed!
