WOYWW playing with pastels

This month, over at Wanderlust, the emphasis is on pastels. Before I joined Wanderlust 2016, I first looked at the Supplies List (which was extensive), and found I already had about 95% of them here in my Giant Art & Craft Stash. Certainly, the pastels date back to last century (hey, it's not all that long ago!) and they are in mint condition. Pastels come in Hard or Soft varieties. I have both :)
Now, in case your first thought is that pre-schoolers have hijacked my desk, I'd best tell you that the first pastel exercise was to just scribble and doodle ... get the feel of them ... nothing else.
So that's what I did ...

It's not "finished". It might turn into something interesting.

Here's a finished double page journal spread which I submitted for the Wanderlust October Challenge.
It all means something but it's complicated so I won't bore you with the details :)

Here's a good start to this Wednesday.  I got an email this morning about a 50% off sale of all Tim Holtz, Ranger and Dylusions at a nearby shop. (This is after telling someone last week that we never have sales for TH stuff!)  So, after a quick detour before work ...

All useful supplies. The sort I can actually use ... almost immediately!

What are you doing?  Me and Julia and all her WOYWW friends would love to know!

  4. Pre-schoolers hijacked your desk, LOL! That was certainly a fun exercise, wasn't it! Loving your abstract journal page - and now I'm curious about what all that means! Great supply haul - the TH stuff is never on sale around here either (I'm just saying it aloud in hopes that I'll get a 50% discount too!) Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #24

  8. I like the idea of just scribbling with 'new' materials to get their feel.
Your journal pages are great too. And, those bargains are going to be a lot of fun. Enjoy your crafty time!

  11. Well, that's the universe for you, isn't it? As soon as I open my big mouth and make a statement, immediately the opposite tends to happen! Moral of the story? Keep my mouth shut, lol! Like THAT'S going to happen!!! I like your doodling with the pastels, sometimes we don't have to be creating something specific, just enjoy the process. That's where kids score over adults. They enjoy the doing not the end result!

  14. Hi RosA, just seen your question about the cheap China dies. Yes, I've been trying them out, and have to say, no complaints. the large Snowflake screen was a bit of a struggle to get the centre area to cut, needed some shimming, but then I think it says more about uneven pressure from the rollers than it does about the die. I've had to shim intricate dies that cost a lot more before now. I've just bought the Precision Base Plate from Sizzix, as I've seen a lot of people recommend that. Hugs, Shaz xx
