WOYWW 2 November ... finished at last!

Apart from dropping the last envelope in the post,

the Houses of History (year long swap) is finally completed.

So, here's my "desk" this morning ...

That's the last HOH page (tied with black ribbon),

my HOH pages (right hand side "Art Deco" theme) all received now

and the red (watercolour) pages and apricot tags have been glimmermisted for future use.

My HOH book has to have covers made for it but I've run out of steam, for the time being.

Oh, and the last of the camellias, still flowering!

if you are a certain age, you will already have guessed!)

Hi there, it's Wednesday again and you know what that means ...

 

There's a couple of watercolour doodlings I did the other day,

really, just an excuse to play with my portable watercolours.

And there's a copy of the original Narnia page (see Houses of History)

which I think I will finish off by incorporating a fabulous ATC by Sandra.

OK, maybe we need two shots today, or a panorama, if I knew how!

Hmmm, not much to see there really ... just those watercolours,
 very transportable, very handy!
And  a cup of tea, because it's about afternoon tea time, isn't it?

Now, thanks to Julia, I'm off to visit some other desks!

I've just been trying to comment on some blogs I have been peeking at ...
 but to no avail.  So, if you have left a comment here, thank you very much,
 I really do appreciate it, but,
at the moment I do not seem to be able to leave comments on anyone's blogs.

Here's what mine looks like today

It's just the usual jumble of bits and pieces.

The only project at the moment is some ATCs for a swap.

No deadline, so ... no stress!

I'm recycling some used stamps for a couple of these ATCs.

(Hope there's no law against that!?)

And, in case you are interested, the camellias are still flowering, but these miniature roses have just started flowering for spring, so thought you might like a closer look ...

Hi there,

It's Wednesday, so you know what that means ...

time for a world-wide Wednesday desk journey

so to start with, here's mine

Working around, from bottom left, there is a page I received for my Houses of History book (Art Deco theme ... I will show you them all when I have received the last one), BUT, that plastic slide mailer detached while in the postal system and I have tried glueing it back with Weldbond, to no avail.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what else I can try?

Above the pink camellia is a lovely card from Sandra and one of her Steampunk ATCs. Aren't they great? In front of the ATC is some more el cheapo jewellery (can't resist it) for some as yet unknown project! And behind the red camellia is a new box of mini gel pens, yum yum! (You can't have too many gel pens ... can you?).  Front right is another unfinished HOH page. (Only two more to go!)

WOYWW 17 August - "Catching Up"

It's been a few weeks so maybe I will do a "catch up" post for you.

 Here's what's on my workspace today.

As usual it's more or less a "mish mash" of just started and half finished bits and pieces.

From left to right, there's a little "canvas" made of leftovers, nearly finished, just waiting on a bit of glueing. It's sitting on a piece of sort of handmade paper that I've been fiddling with and those wood mounted stamps of snowflakes will be used with the altered paper. They stamp very nicely but those clear stamps on top of them do not seem to work very well. (No idea why not.)

And there's another "altered" blue page (for use with the snowflake stamps).

 And the Narnia page is almost finished. It is the third last page in the HOH series and will be sent out by the end of the month, so it might actually arrive early, I expect.

Now, because it's Winter here, I have been doing a bit of knitting.

 So ... I can show you, not one, but two, finished berets!

If you are interested in the technical details ... they are knitted in 8 ply

 (or double knitting) pure wool, on a set of double pointed needles.

 Fiddly, but I'm pleased with the end result.

And, finally, here is some "Happy Mail" which arrived a day or so ago ...

It is a brooch made of polymer clay. Isn't it gorgeous?

I also received some other lovely mail from Shaz in Oz but I will save that for next week, because it deserves a special entry.

WOYWW 29 June

Welcome to my Wednesay workspace.

 (It's not a desk  ...   you can probably guess where it is and what it should be used for.)

Once again, I'm working on my HOH page for this month.

 It's for Jane and her theme is Captain Cook

(and his cottage, which I've previously mentioned, is now located in Melbourne).

It's nearly finished and will go in the post in a day or two.

(Hi Shaz, you can see some of those stamped images I am doing for you.

Also nearly finished and in the mail soon.)

And there's a nice card which I received from Sandra.

And, there's some of those lovely flowers I received from Cardarian.

I gave them a light spray with a pale, no-colour Glimmermist

just to add a bit of shine.

In the bottom left corner is one of many UFOs

which I'm thinking I might actually try to finish.

It's trying to be an altered book.

WOYWW ANNIVERSARY 1 June

Today is a special WOYWW. 

  Julia started all this desk visiting and now it's time to say ...

 "Happy Anniversary WOYWW"

I'm just putting together this month's HOH, the subject being Florence Nightingale,

which you've probably figured out by now.

I know, it's going to be late, but I can't rush it or send it out unless I'm HAPPY with it.

The camellias aren't normally sitting just there,
but I thought maybe you would enjoy them as much as I do.
They provide lots of bright colour all through the winter months.

If you look closely you can get a sneek peak
of my PiF gift in the bottom right hand corner.

BTW ... many thanks for visiting me
but I can't seem to reply to any comments, via blogger, at the moment.
 I don't know what to do about it, so I hope it just magically fixes itself soon!

WOYWW 25 May

Sorry I missed you all last week. Just went away for a few days in the sun.

Back here now, with gale force winds, especially if you live on the coast, (which I don't),

 so it's just very windy and somewhat bleak. (And not even winter yet!).

Enough of the weather report!

 Here's what's on my workdesk today ... again, not a lot, any creativity seems to be just bouncing around in my head and not going anywhere.

I need to get this month's HOH page finished.

If you look closely maybe you can guess the theme.

Houses of History

I don't know if you are following the progress of the HOH project,

but here is the finished page for April.

I know, it doesn't look very exciting, does it?

 The embellishments are very subtle, BUT the glass case windows open, like so ...

and that Kodak Brownie camera pictured was my very first camera.

 (I've had a few since then!)

It's not exactly the right vintage for the shop,

 but I'm almost certain it was bought from the local chemist.

The bookmark is a copy of a vintage Pears Soap giveaway

 and there is a little note in the envelope.

I do hope the recipient likes it.

It's Wednesday again and that means it's time to have a peek at some workspaces.

 The recipient has requested "Apothecary" and this has certainly tested my creativity.

 Actually, there's not really much creativity happening here just some stuff I've found on the www which I hope will be a suitable basis for this page.

Once again, I'm convinced I've bitten off more than I can chew.

WOYWW 16 March

Wednesday means WOYWW. Please visit Julia to find out what it's all about.

The HOH project for this month is lurking in the bottom of the picture. It remains unfinished, but hopefully will resolve itself in the next few days. Once again, have I bitten off more than I can chew? And there's those two little reverse canvases that are nearly, sort of, almost finished. Can you see that really cute cat illustration (right hand side) ... yep, zoom in, that's the only way you'll see it. It's a little notepad set I found at a garage sale for 50c! Pretty nice, eh? Oh, and on the left hand side you can see one of my cutting knives which I took apart and then promptly forgot how to put back together. Luckily, I have another! (Awaiting technical assistance now.)

You can also see some of my "best" ATCs. I'm picking out some to send to someone.

WOYWW 2 March

It's Wednesday again, well it is here anyway.

There's a few things happening today. There's the beginnings of my HOH page (you know what that means, I'm not writing Houses of History anymore) for March (top left). The theme is Phileas Fogg (Around the World in Eighty Days ... maybe I should read it) with a steampunk feel. Another challenge!  And I just felt like playing with some small reversed canvasses with a bit of recycling. Look closely, it's just a couple of pieces of cardboard that I've ripped a bit of the top layer off of and painted with a rather icky colour I got by mixing raw oxide and yellow umber. That little beady flower thing (that Sandra sent me) is just the right colour, but I also need some thin fabric, cheesecloth, or something. And that means a trip to my sewing room, a veritable Aladdin's cave of all things fabric and fibre. If I'm not here next Wednesday you'll know I'm still lost in there.

See the candelabra on the left hand side. It is beautifully laser cut and it comes from Scrapmatts as do the pages themselves. I've used Glimmermist and Glimmer Glam from Tattered Angels on the candelabra. And here is the reverse side ... see how Marie Antoinette comes out of the little pocket



WOYWW 23 Feb

Well, it's Wednesday, again already, so here's today's workspace catastrophe.

(Ha ha, you can't really see the catastrophe
 because I have very cleverly cropped the photo.)

I've started this month's Houses of History page for Lucy and her theme is Chateau de Versailles. (That's French for that Palace in France where Marie Antoinette lived and caused more catastrophe).  I've been giving this a lot of thought, 
so I know what I am going to do... sort of.

So now I am doing it ...

 I've started by painting the edges with cream acrylic paint, 
and collecting some appropriate embellishments.
